WRITING
Our writing program is a workshop approach utilizing a writer’s notebook. Narrative writing is a major focus of our curriculum. However, third graders are engaged in writing in several genres such as literary responses, opinion paragraphs, letter writing, expository pieces and non-fiction writing. These genres are incorporated into our Writer’s Workshop, which uses personal experiences as topics for writing. Skills are applied to writing in all content areas. It is expected that students will begin to learn editing and revision techniques throughout the year. Not all written pieces are taken to final drafts.
